OUR
STORY

GET TO KNOW US

Merrijig local, Tara Purcell met husband Dan Reuber in Vancouver in 2013, working for a Landscaping crew. Dan has been in the garden maintenance industry in Canada for over 20 years, operating his own business. Tara, had travelled the better part of 10 years, working home and abroad in Tourism, Events and Hospitality.

The nursery journey began in 2018 after moving back to Australia, to the Purcell family farm in Merrijig, Shady Glen. After just one year, an opportunity to purchase the current property in Maindample presented itself, with a kiss from the universe, evolving projects gained momentum.

2020 brought the Pandemic, and with it, new home buyers entering the Mansfield market, and locals finding time for home improvements

The transition from farming block to functioning retail nursery, with ancillary coffee trailer, took off and is still developing.

Early days of business took plant scouting to Melbourne Trade fairs, finding connections for reliable growers. Now WMA is comfortable and confident in finding plant requests via a large grower's network and transporting stock directly to the nursery.

The nursery began with stock of mixed native and exotic species, accommodating Dans experience of the Northern climate plants, but soon developed into Native focus as the extreme frosts and heat presented need for adaptation to better plant survival success and watering.

Spring and Autumn are optimal planting months and seasons naturally slowing over the extreme weather Seasons.

Operation is Friday Saturday and Sunday all year around.

Wild Mint Acres is always open to enquiries via telephone, text, email or social media and flexible for opening by appointment.

The cafe space has replaced the old horse float converted coffee trailer, and in the future would be happy moving towards operating workshops or talks of interest.
